about > statements > metaplastic
I used photos of fish and reef life taken at the Coney Island Aquarium to create images full of movement, saturation, danger, and the exhilaration of escape.
We are always subject to life-forces and evolving on our individual paths of predation and prey, yet beneath -- or often superimposed upon -- our carnal, animal selves, we are creatures seeking beauty, comfort, order and love. By juxtaposing the chaos and intensity of nature with harmony and sensual curves, we see the metaplastic, transformative nature of an existence which allows such great heights of the mind and such raw reality of life.
